Hard drives are identified by the State of NJ DEP as an electronic device. Any processing (disassembly or shredding) of an electronic device must be done by a Class D Universal Waste-Consumer Electronics permitted organization. There are only 10 of these facilities in NJ including Back Thru The Future. To this point, any hard drive shredding had to be performed within the physical plant of the licensee. Back Thru The Future petitioned the NJ State DEP to allow for an amendment to our Class D processing license to allow us to provide on-site hard drive shredding services.
We were notified on February 4, 2013 the amendment was approved and we expect to be able to start on site hard drive shredding in NJ March 1st 2013.
